TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Sometimes, a tooth can become so damaged that it is not able to be saved. In other cases, there may not be enough room in the mouth to accommodate another tooth. In these instances, extraction is the best option to preserve the health of the surrounding teeth.

General Tooth Extraction

Dental professionals work hard to save natural teeth, but sometimes, after all attempts have been made, extraction is the recommended next step. The doctors at North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery are experts at the surgical removal of teeth, and this type of procedure is very common at our practice. Once you have undergone an extraction, Dr. Friedman, Dr. Schulhof, and Dr. Montazem can restore your oral health and smile with high-quality tooth restorations such as precision-placed dental implants. When you come in for your consultation appointment, your oral surgeon will work closely with you to plan for extracting and then replacing your missing tooth. You will be in the best hands at our practice — we pride ourselves on the safety and excellence of our work restoring smiles.

We generally use local anesthesia for extractions, so you will be conscious and aware during your treatment but will not feel any discomfort. If you require multiple extractions, or if your extraction is more complicated, intravenous (IV) sedation may be recommended for you. No matter what form of anesthesia is chosen for your procedure, our team will assure that you are at ease and comfortable before any treatment takes place. Please don’t hesitate to talk with us if you tend to feel anxious during dental procedures — we can provide you with additional options for your anesthesia if this is the case.
