Facial Fillers

Facial fillers can restore lost volume to areas of your face, such as the cheeks or eyes, resulting in a younger-looking appearance. This procedure can restore your self-confidence and can also reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

Rejuvenate Your Appearance and Confidence With Fillers

Many visible signs of aging can be traced to the loss of volume in the face. As we age, facial tissues thin out, lines appear around the nose, mouth, cheeks, and eyes, and the elasticity in our skin decreases. Luckily, there is a safe solution that can restore your appearance and your self-confidence: facial fillers.

What Are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers are gel-like substances that are injected under the skin to obtain a more youthful look. While BOTOX® focuses primarily on smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, facial fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Radiesse® aim to fill larger areas of lost volume. Fillers contain hyaluronic acid, or HA, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body that keeps the tissues moisturized. This treatment typically helps in the reduction of lines and wrinkles and will be sure to boost your confidence while restoring a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

Different Types of Facial Fillers

There are many types of facial fillers that our practice uses, and we will help you determine the right choice for your cosmetic needs. Fillers are safe, minimally invasive, clinically proven, and you can notice results after only one treatment.

JUVÉDERM

JUVÉDERM offers a variety of solutions to plump lips, smooth lines, or lift and contour cheeks. Over time, skin loses its volume, and JUVÉDERM helps to temporarily bring it back. Many patients get touch-up treatments every 6 to 12 months, but the duration of individual results will vary depending on the patient and his or her needs. Learn more on the JUVÉDERM website.

Restylane

With over 30 million treatments worldwide and counting, Restylane is another popular HA filler that provides natural-looking results. Restylane can help with facial wrinkles and folds by adding volume to the lips, smoothing lip lines, and adding fullness to the cheek and midface area. Patients can get touch-ups as needed, and some results can last as long as 18 months between treatments. Individual results will vary depending on the patient’s specific cosmetic goals. Learn more on the Restylane website.

Radiesse

Designed for definition, Radiesse is another type of facial filler that restores lost volume and stimulates the body’s own natural supply of collagen. It is the first FDA-approved dermal filler for both the face and the hands, and patients typically require touch-ups about every 12 to 18 months. Again, this will vary depending on individual cosmetic goals. To learn more, visit the Radiesse website.

The Process of Getting Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers are a safe and quick treatment that the oral surgeons at North Jersey Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery have been specially trained to perform. During your consultation, your doctor will review your areas of concern, discuss your cosmetic goals, and determine the right treatment for your needs. If you are looking to smooth lines only and not restore volume, BOTOX may be another option to consider.

On the day of treatment, your doctor will clean and typically numb the area with a topical anesthetic for your comfort. A precise amount of the chosen filler will be injected into the designated area, and many patients notice results almost immediately. Some patients experience mild bruising or swelling, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs. Treatment is so quick that you can return to your normal activities as soon as you leave our office. Be sure to follow any specific directions from your doctor, as well as follow any special care instructions. Depending on your goals, you may require follow-up treatments every 6 months to 1 year.
