Chin Augmentation is a common procedure which brings balance to the facial structure by way of correcting a weak chin or large chin due to congenital deficiency, age-related bone resorption or facial trauma.

A weak chin can make a normal nose appear large and an already prominent nose seem even larger. It may also give the appearance of a ‘fleshy’ neck. On the other hand, a too prominent chin may give the appearance of having too small of a nose or otherwise throwing the face off balance. The end result should be a balanced relationship within the structure of the face.

This procedure can be as simple as injecting a temporary soft tissue augmentation filler like restylane or perlane to implanting a silicone or Porex chin implant, or having a genioplasty. A genioplasty is a procedure that utilizes the patient’s own bone for augmentation. This procedure can be entirely performed through an incision inside the mouth.
